Today we were shopping for a birthday present for one of R's friends at school. She is always very conscientious when she selects presents...telling me different things she has noticed that they like. I'm impressed by the way she takes note of even little things about her friends. I suggested a little doll playset with miniature dolls and clothes and shoes (something Rebekah would love)...she smiled and said, "That is nice, mommy, but I don't want to get it for S because she has a little baby at her house and her baby might try to eat the little pieces." I was surprised she even thought of that. I hadn't!

R: Mommy, why do the men in this world have eyelashes?
Me: Hmm?
R: Only girls are supossed to have eyelashes.
Me: Why is that?
R: To put makeup on them.

Random Tidbits....
David had to work late tonight and I decided to let the kids watch a movie and hang out in my room for a while. I asked Rebekah what movie she'd like to watch and she thought about it a minute and said, "The Little Mermaid, because I want to practice being brave around Ursula."
We were driving around the neighborhood looking at all the new roofs and she was sooooo excited b/c one of the roofing signs had the pink panther on it holding a hammer. She laughed so hard calling it the "Pink Panther Bob the Builder."
Which reminds me...the other morning I walked into the kitchen and when I walked in, Rebekah looked at me kind of startled. "Mommy! When you came in I saw Bob the Builder behind you, but he was invisible!" She kept telling everyone about bob the builder's ghost.

Today Rebekah decided she wants new carpet in her room. "I don't like white carpet," she said. "I want blue." Then she thought a minute, trying to convince me more why she needs new carpet. "You know why I always put toys all over my floor, mommy? Because I don't like my carpet. If I had blue carpet, I'd never put anything on it because it would be beautiful!"

Today around lunch time, Rebekah said she wanted to go to Chick-fil-a. When I told her we couldn't and she wanted to know why I explained because we were trying to save money. I tried to put it in terms she could understand by saying if we don't use the money at chick-fil-a, then we will have the money to use to buy her birthday present at her birthday. She thought a minute and said, "But you always get change, mommy. You can use the change to buy my birthday present."
"But that won't be enough," I told her.
"But mommy, you can just go to a lot of stores and buy a lot of stuff and then you'll get a lot of change so then you'll have a lot to buy my present."
"So," she added, "We need to go to chick-fil-a."
(We didn't go to chickfila).

Jacob has started saying a lot more words now, but also still being creative in his communicating. The other day, Rebekah was crying about something and I was in the other room nursing Benjamin and ignoring her drama. Jacob was concerned though and ran in to tell me..."Mama! Mama! Sis- Aaaaahhh!!!!" he said....instead of saying "Sister crying" he said "sister" and then acted just like she was acting screaming and crying.
When I was putting his laundry away the other day he pointed to his pajamas and said, "Be! (me) and then made a snoring sound."

Jacob and I were playing a game w/ the letters of the alphabet. ( A fishing game.) He would "catch" a letter and we'd say a word or name that started w/ that letter. Sounds boring, but to him it was so exciting. Everytime he caught the letter "G" he'd say "Daddy! Daddy!" and I would say, "No, silly, G is for Grandmama!" He kept getting more and more insistent that G was for Daddy. I asked "Why is G for daddy?" and Jacob pointed to his head. Then it made sense. David wears a Georgia hat every day with a huge "G" on it!
The other night, I found a note on my desk that said, "I love you, David" scrawled in Rebekah's handwriting. I asked her later how she had learned how to spell her daddy's name and she said, "Because it says it on the phone!" She told me she had looked on the caller id to see how to spell his name correctly.
Jacob has been climbing on the potty and going when he needs to. Not all the time, but some of the time! I'm not pushing it, so it's all self-motivated. I'm really proud of him!
Benjamin is starting to smile a lot more! I love how his face lights up when he looks at me. He is also becoming really aware of toys on his swing/bouncy seat/car seat and flails his arm around like he wants to grab them. It's really cute.

David had a rough day at work today. I told Rebekah daddy would need some extra love tonight. She asked why and I explained he had a hard day at work and felt a little sad. She was really concerned and asked what had happened. I didn't know how to explain the situation, so I told her someone wasn't nice to daddy. She got really quiet and serious and said, "Which one was it?" She thought one of "the amigos" had been mean to her daddy. She LOVES the amigos (our employees) and I could tell it REALLY bothered her that she thought one of them had been mean to her daddy. I assured her it wasn't one of them and she was immediately relieved. But then she wanted to know who it was, what his name was, and where he was from. I guess she wants to hunt him down!
Jacob likes to make up his own words or gestures for things....some examples.
dog- "oof" (woof)
cat- "wow" (meow)
car- "vroom"
slide- "weee!"
His newest thing has been telling us where something is...when something is upstairs, he makes a "do do do do" sound (with the notes going up the musical scale) and moves his fingers like they are going up stairs. For downstairs he does the opposite, with the sounds going from high to low.
Today when I was folding the laundry, he saw his pajamas and excitedly pointed to them, closed his eyes and pretended to snore. I guess that is his new way to say pajamas.
He gets really irritated when I call him "baby." It's a habit to use that as a "pet name" for all three of my kids, but he gets so mad and shakes his head furiously and says "uh uh baby!"
